Steven C. Poplawski, MD, FACS
Dr. Steven Poplawski* is a bariatric and general surgeon with 22 years of general surgical experience. He serves as a bariatric surgeon at Forest Health Medical Center in Southeast Michigan. Dr. Poplawski is also the Medical Director for the Barix Clinics program.
Dr. Poplawski received his MD degree in 1981 from the University of Illinois, Rockford School of Medicine in Rockford, Illinois. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where he was Chief Resident in 1986. In addition, he completed two-year fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh, Presbyterian Medical Center, Pittsburgh Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and at Baylor University Medical Center's Department of Surgery/Transplantation Services in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Poplawski is licensed in the states of Michigan, Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas and is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners. His memberships in professional societies include the American Medical Association, the Association for Academic Surgery, and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, among others. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
